My most holy Mother, Mary Most Divine of Mount Carmel, to whom else but You, who are the health of the sick, the relief of the afflicted and also the refuge of the defenceless, shall I entrust this grave distress in which I find myself? My beloved Mother, by the divine will of God.
I have been suffering for so long with this terrible health problem, without having been able to find consolation in the doctors of the planet; in fact, my sufferings are increasing day by day, while I feel my scarce stamina being exhausted and I lack the necessary patience to bear them.
I sincerely hope, O Mary, that you will have compassion on me, that you will grant me the health and well-being that I lack, for it is not in vain that I cover my breast with your Sacred Scapular, which is a pledge of your loving.
protection and also a universal remedy for the illnesses of the spirit as well as of the body. In return for this attitude, which you will certainly not refute, I consecrate to you my spirit with all its powers, my body with all its senses, in short, my whole being, so that you may take care of me as something that comes from you.
If God, our Lord, in His high judgments, does not intend to give me the health that I ask for through your mediation, because it is probably convenient for His glory and also for my own salvation that I endure and also suffer with this health problem, then I ask you, my Mother, to obtain for me from His divine greatness the virtue of perseverance, so that with it I may bear my sufferings with the resignation appropriate to an excellent Christian, as well as through it to cleanse myself completely of all my transgressions, in order to attain eternal glory. Amen.
Hail Mary, full of elegance, the Lord is with you; blessed are you among women, and also honoured is the fruit of your womb, Jesus. Divine Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death. Amen.
Holy Mary, help the sick, give perseverance to the weak, comfort the afflicted, pray for the people of God, help the clergy, intercede for the spiritual. Mary, all those who seek your help, experience your never-failing security.
My Queen, my Mother.
I dedicate myself entirely to you. And also to show you my devotion, today I give you my eyes, my ears, my mouth, my heart, my whole missing book. For this reason, excellent Mother, since I am yours, keep me, keep me as your home and also as your property. Amen.
O blessed Virgin Mary, Queen of one of the most divine rosaries, who was pleased to appear before the children of Fatima and to reveal to them a wonderful message.
We ask You to inspire in our hearts a passionate love for the recitation of the Rosary. By meditating on the mysteries of salvation recalled in it, may we obtain the beauties and also the merits which we ask of you, through the benefits of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Saviour.
Recite daily the Little Office of the Blessed Virgin Mary. As this is a long prayer, although quite beautiful, with the permission of a clergyman you can replace it with a) 5 decades of the rosary, b) abstaining from meat on Wednesdays and Saturdays, or c) some other excellent work.
All this is not as formidable as it seems! You will be enrolled, or “vested” as they say, when your scapular has actually been honoured and a priest has said certain petitions.
(All clergy have the authority to do this.) You do not need to have any other scapulars honoured that you might put on later. It is also important to keep in mind here that once you are enrolled, you will be participating in the daily prayers as well as various other spiritual benefits of the Carmelite Order.
Our Girl of Mount Carmel’s pledge of salvation to St Simon as well as the Carmelites can now apply to you as well. Scapulars were typically used, as in the time of St Simon, as a sleeveless outer garment covering the shoulders, front and back.
The scapular we use for this devotion, however, is much smaller, as in the example below: it contains 2 tiny pieces of cloth, usually wool, a few centimetres long and wide. They are joined together by 2 cords, so that the scapular can be worn over the head and under the clothes, with one square dangling from the chest and the other from the back.
O most beautiful flower of Mount Carmel, fruitful vine, natural beauty of heaven. Happy Mother of the Child of God, Immaculate Virgin, help me in my need, O Lady of the Sea, help me and reveal to me here that you are my Mother. O Holy Mary, Mother of God, Queen of Heaven and Earth, I humbly ask you from the depths of my heart to assist me in my request. There is no one who can resist your power. O Mary, conceived without sin, grant us who have recourse to You (say 3 times).
